Tyler Junior College students, including one from Hideaway, were recognized for journalistic excellence at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Awards ceremony held March 24 in Dallas, publicity officials announced. Matthew Lucas of Hideaway won first place in the advertising/PSA/Promo Audio category. The Texas Intercollegiate Press Association is the oldest collegiate media association in the country. This year, 71 Texas schools and more than 400 students participated in the multi-media conference. The annual awards honor excellence in collegiate student media across two-year and four-year colleges. more

Larry Wilson, a tireless chronicler of everyday events in Lindale through the lens of his trusty camera, was honored Monday night (April 16) as the Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year during the LACC’s annual banquet and auction at the Hideaway Lake Clubhouse. “Waves of Change,’’ reflecting the transformation of the LACC during the past 12 months, which features new membership levels and new initiatives for local businesses, was the theme of the 33rd annual gathering. Wilson’s work, which has won several awards in the LACC’s photo contest, is also featured in murals in the city. more
Lindale country music superstar Miranda Lambert made history this past Sunday night in Las Vegas at the American Country Music awards show. By winning female vocalist of the year – her ninth in a row – and song of the year for “Tin Man,’’ it brought her record-setting total to 31. more

The company was seeking a new Lindale Eagles’ logo for its newest concrete truck and enlisted help from some of the art students of Lindale High School and Lindale Junior High School. more
