A memorial service for Lucia “Lucy’’ Victoria Heller, 8, of Lindale is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Villa Di Felicita on Texas Highway 110 with Rev. Lewis Pollard officiating.

Services are under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. A visitation is planned for 6 p.m. prior to the service.

She passed away on Sunday, May 13, in a Fort Worth hospital.

Lucy was born in Westerville, Ohio, on Aug. 4, 2009 to Edward Blair and Theresa Sue (Gehring) Heller. She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Lindale.

After her passing, a friend posted “Queen Lucy went to heaven today to her beautiful castle with Jesus.’’

She was well known to the Lindale community, which banded together and raised money to help her complete her bucket list of items, which included a visit from Santa Claus, art collaboration in Dallas, a princess photo shoot and visiting Cinderella’s Castle.

In April, she was crowned “Queen of Hearts’’ in a celebration at a local venue, complete with a tiara, fancy desserts and food as well as being surrounded by family and friends. This was the final item on her bucket list.

Extended family members were able to fly in from Ohio for that celebration and her brother Koty, serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, was able to see his little sister become “Queen.’’

The Lindale High School baseball team adopted Lucy and treated her and her family to a special night in March, when she and her parents threw out the first pitch to her brother Conner at the LHS baseball game against Nacogdoches.

The team also honored her at its end of the year banquet.

A third grader at College Street Elementary School, her health began to take a turn for the worse during the past several months.

Lucy suffered from cerebral palsy, cortical vision impairment, epilepsy osteopenia and severe scoliosis.

In 2016, a “We Love Lucy’’ fundraiser was held in downtown Lindale where a spaghetti dinner was served by special chefs.

Games and other activities took place, based on the classic “I Love Lucy’’ television show. Several classic “Lucy’’ videos were also shown during the evening.

Survivors include her loving and dedicated parents Ed and Teri Heller of Lindale; brothers Specialist Dakota Heller of Lindale, Conner Heller of Lindale and Ethan Heller of Lindale; grandparents Roger and Kathleen Wayts of Ohio, Nanci Heller of Ohio; aunts and uncles Richard Heller of Round Rock, Anne Lothes of Ohio, Katie and Jeremy Brown of Ohio and Rick and Megan Gehring of Ohio as well as many other family members and dear friends.
