HAWL Kiwanis present $30,00 in scholarships to LHS seniors

Each year, the Hideaway Lake Kiwanis Club awards scholarships to deserving Lindale High School seniors and this year the club presented five students with a total of $30,000 for college.

Klaire Hicks received the Emery Crane Scholarship worth $11,480, while Rebecca Richardson was also awarded an $11,480 scholarship. This scholarship is named for the founder of the Kiwanis Scholarship program.

The Key Club Scholarship, worth $4,000, was presented to Sydney Fuller who was chosen based on her many hours of volunteering and being a leader in the Key Club, a Kiwanis sponsored youth organization.

Technical scholarships, worth $2,000 each, were awarded to Kale Walters and Sheryl Cervantes.

The HAWL Kiwanis Club is a service organization which under takes three annual fundraisers with all money raised donated back to local children’s organizations, the LISD and others in need.

Fund raisers include the Kiwanis annual golf tournament each spring at Hideaway Lake Golf Club, a silent and live auction each October during Countryfest and the club’s flag program, which members put out more than 1,000 flags on seven holidays during the year.
