The Lindale High School Lady Eagles softball team began District 17-5A play this week after having a successful Spring Break by finishing second in the San Marcos High School Lady Rattler Spring Break Classic this past week.
The Lady Eagles took three wins to improve their season record to 5-1 by beating Navarro, 2-1, Greenwood, 5-0 and Weimar, 3-2 on Thursday and defeating Lubbock Cooper, 7-6, on Saturday.
Junior pitcher Hannah Knox fanned 21 and allowed just six hits during the tournament, while Gracie Spearman and Dee Saunders were the leading hitters.
On Saturday, Jodi DeHart and Gracie Spearman were leaders at the plate with two hits apiece.
The win propelled the Lady Eagles into the semifinals against Liberty High School, with Lindale taking a 5-3 win.
Hannah Knox and Dee Saunders both had three hits in the win.
Familiar foe North Lamar was next, but the Lady Eagles came up on the short end of a 5-0 score.
