Lady Eagles whip Whitehouse; finish first half 5-0


Lindale High School’s Lady Eagles finished the first round of District 17-5A play this past Friday with a hard fought, five-set win over Whitehouse in the LHS varsity gym.

The Lady Eagles completed the first portion of league play with a 5-0 record while the Lady Wildcats finished with a 4-1 record.

The two teams fought through more than 2 ½ hours with Lindale taking a 25-18, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25 and 15-12.

Prior to the varsity match, the freshman and junior varsity teams feel to the visitors.

The freshman team lost 23-25 and 19-25 while the junior varsity fell, 25-13, 18-25 and 18-25.

Leading the varsity Lady Eagles at the net was Lorin Reue (12 kills, 1 block) and Shelbi Steen (7 kills, 1 block, 7 digs). Also dominating the net, Brina Kuslak had 5 kills with a solid 4 blocks, London Reue chipped in 5 kills and 2 blocks, and Shailan Davis had 3 kills and 4 blocks.

The Lady Eagles had 8 total team blocks on the night. Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce kept the ball moving; Thurman had 10 assists and 6 digs, and Pierce had 17 assists and 11 digs. Libero Alisha Kiser had a match high of 39 digs in the five set battle. Gracie Spearman and Jennifer Moyer had 13 and 11 digs respectively.

The Lady Eagles began the second round of district at home on Tuesday against another big rival Corsicana. This will be Lindale’s senior night, celebrating the play of Mackenzie Martin, Lorin Reue, Alisha Kiser, and our sweet manager Ataly Aranjon.


On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the Lady Eagles defeated Ennis at all three levels, with the freshman team winning 25-11 and 25-8, the junior varsity taking a 25-21 and 25-22 victory and the varsity running its 17-5A record to 4-0 with a 25-15, 25-21 and 25-15 win.

Leading the Lady Eagles at the net were Hannah Knox (9 kills, 6 digs, and 3 aces) and Shelbi Steen (9 kills, 7 digs). Brina Kuslak, London Reue, and Lorin Reue each had 5 kills a piece in the three set victory.

Setters Harleigh Thurman and Kalaya Pierce kept the ball moving well; Thurman had 16 assists and 4 digs, and Pierce had 14 assists and 5 digs. Libero Alisha Kiser had 23 digs and 2 aces as well.
