The future of the Lindale High School Speech and Debate team is seemingly in good hands, especially considering the efforts of seven freshman participants during a recent tournament at North Lamar High School near Paris.
Coach Rory McKenzie took 11 students to the meet, with seven of those being freshmen, and as is often the case the LHS team won the tournament championship.
“This is an incredible accomplishment for these students to travel so far and collectively step up and do well,’’ he said.
Nine of the 11 competitors placed with two others finishing seventh, he said. Jeremy Guidotti was named Top Speaker in the 2nd Novice Policy Debate.
“It was a great trip,’’ McKenzie said.
