The Tyler Music Coterie’s Hambrick/Mueller Young Musician of the Year Scholarship auditions are scheduled for Saturday, April 14 in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, 507 Broad Street in Chandler, officials announced.
Deadline for applications is Saturday, March 31.
An applicant must be a 2018 graduating high school senior entering college as a music major in a U.S. college or university in the fall of 2018 and live within an approximate 65- mile radius of Tyler.
The Young Musician of the Year will be presented in recital at the Tyler Music Coterie meeting at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Chandler.
The public is invited to attend the recital and enjoy a reception following the recital.
The winner will receive a scholarship of $1,500 from the Tyler Music Coterie and is also eligible to receive a minimum of $500 per regular semester scholarship at the University of Texas at Tyler or $1000 per year divided between fall semester 2018 and spring semester 2019 at Tyler Junior College.
Attendees of the recital will have an opportunity to donate to the scholarship fund for the 2019 winner.
