Perryman’s economic forecast set Thursday


Dr. Ray Perryman, a Lindale native as well as president and CEO of The Perryman Group, will deliver his 34th annual economic forecast for the U.S., Texas and East Texas beginning at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 11 at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, officials announced.

Perryman, whose column runs each week in the Lindale News and Times, earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Baylor University and a PhD in Economics from Rice University.

Among the numerous academic positions he’s held over the years, he served 10 years as Herman Brown Professor of Economics for 10 years and five years as university professor and economist-in-residence at Baylor and five years in the same position at SMU.

Currently, he is a senior research fellow of the IC2 Institute of the University of Texas and Institute Distinguished Professor of Economic Theory and Method at the International Institute for Advanced Studies.

Perryman has authored several books and more than 400 academic papers and has served as president of both the Southwestern Economic Association and the Southwestern Society of Economists.

In the professional arena, he has authored more than 2,000 trade articles, publishes a subscription forecasting service and a monthly newsletter, writes a weekly syndicated newspaper column, hosts a daily radio commentary, and appears regularly on National Public Radio.
