Sam Camp


Graveside services for Sam Camp, 84 of Lindale were held Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Lindale City Cemetery under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale with Gary Camp and Pastor Tom Buck officiating.

Mr. Camp passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at his home in Lindale. He was born June 6, 1933 in Cartwright, Texas to the late Edgar McGarrity and Eva (Richardson) Camp.

He was in both the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He lived 16 years in Garland before moving to Lindale in 1973 where he became a member of the First United Methodist Church and was the owner of the Western Auto store from 1973 to 1992.

Mr. Camp enjoyed gardening, camping, and volunteering for the Forestry service during travels.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Camp of Lindale; children, Gary Camp and wife Susan of Lindale, Larry Camp and wife Gwen of Lindale, and Cindy Simmons and husband Mark of Flint; brother, Hoyt Camp and wife Marie of Quitman; grandchildren, Jennifer Meier, Jessica Camp, Casey Camp, Brooke Moore, Blair Camp, Bailey Camp, Jonathon Simmons, and Luke Simmons; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Marilyn Beddoe.
